MUSIC MINISTRY OPPORTUNITIES FOR
ADULTS
CANTATAS
Special
Congregational Choir
Twice each year, Christmas Eve and Good
Friday, Peace calls a special choir of singers from the
congregation to offer a cantata during worship. These Cantata
Choirs prepare the music of the cantata over the course of four
3-hour rehearsals. The cantatas are accompanied by a small
ensemble of musicians. This is a very exciting opportunity for
singers to try out singing in a 4-part traditional choir. The
rehearsal commitment is very limited and the rewards of offering
your talent for the glory of God are tremendous.
Any member
or non-member of Peace is
welcome and encouraged to sing in the Cantata Choir. If you have
always wanted to sing with the choir but just did not have the
time, this is your opportunity to experience the joy of singing
truly beautiful music while worshiping our God. The commitment
is very short term and the music is not difficult. All singers
receive a score and a rehearsal CD to practice with outside of
rehearsal times.
Special rehearsals for the next Cantata for Good Friday and
Easter will
begin in late February. The Good Friday cantata will be "Once
Upon a Tree." There will be
four rehearsals. If you are interested in singing or if you are
an accomplished musician and would like to play your instrument
in the orchestra, contact Clair Denny to sign up. Clair Denny may be contacted by
phone at 623-521-2112 or by email at

congregational song leadership at the 8:00 AM worship service
from September through April. The group also sings at other
special worship services throughout the church year. Clair Denny
directs the Chancel Choir.

Summer Singers
This group begins meeting in May each year. The Summer Singers is a "Come As You Are - Come
As You Can" ensemble. Singers rehearse one or two songs (mostly
upbeat music) each week from 7:15 - 8 AM and then sing that song
during the 8AM worship service throughout the summer. The music is fun and upbeat and
should get your toes tapping and your soul praising! So set your
alarm and wake up to some fun that have you humming and
whistling all week long. Contact Clair Denny for more
information or just come to any rehearsal. Summer Singers
2009 has ended. Check this page in April for the startup date of
Summer Singers 2010.

Handbells
Our 4 octave handbell choir offers special music twice each month
at the 8:00 worship hour. The Peace ringers have been
enjoying a new praise and worship style repertoire this year.
Ringers are not required to know how to read music but a basic
knowledge of musical notation does make learning the music
easier. The Handbell choir rehearses on Thursday evenings from
6:00 to 7:00 from September thru April. Contact Diane Johnson at
623-972-6785, x208 for more
information or to join the handbells.
